Best Ways to Move a Table from One Base to Another in Airtable

Airtable doesn’t have a built-in feature to move a table from one base to another, which can be a real headache if you’re reorganizing your workspace or merging data.

But don’t worry—there are workarounds depending on whether you’re on a paid plan or using the free version. Let’s go through them.

If You’re on a Paid Plan: Use the Sync Feature

The simplest and most efficient way to move a table is by using Airtable’s Sync feature. Here’s how to do it:

  • First, sync the table you want to move to the destination base. This will copy over all your data, including linked records, formulas, and lookups, so everything stays intact.
  • Once the data is synced and looks good, you can unsync the table. This turns it into a standalone table in the new base, giving you full control without any dependencies.

The sync feature is a lifesaver because it handles all the heavy lifting for you. However, it’s only available on paid plans.

If you’re on the free plan, there are still options—they just require a bit more manual effort.

If You’re on the Free Plan: Try Exporting or Copying

Free users aren’t completely out of luck. You can still move tables between bases, but it’ll take a little extra effort. Here are two methods you can use:

Option 1: Export and Import via CSV

  • Start by exporting the table as a CSV file from your current base.

  • Next, create a new table in the target base and import the CSV file.

  • Keep in mind that this method only transfers the raw data. You’ll need to manually recreate things like formulas, linked records, and lookups in the new base.

Option 2: Copy and Paste

  • Select the entire table (Ctrl/Cmd + A) and copy it (Ctrl/Cmd + C).

  • Paste it (Ctrl/Cmd + V) into a new table in the target base.

  • Like the CSV method, you’ll need to set up advanced field types again after pasting.
