How to Hide Emails of Users an Airtable Interface Is Shared With

Airtable Interfaces are a great way to build client dashboards. They look professional right out of the box, with no need to write code or stitch together third-party tools. You can create polished, interactive layouts that make complex data easy for clients to navigate and understand.

But there's one problem that often goes unnoticed. When you share an interface with multiple people, everyone can see who else has access.

If ten clients have access to the same interface, each one can see the other nine. If you're working with clients in privacy-conscious countries like those covered by GDPR, or even just clients who expect discretion, this can be a serious issue. You're exposing personal contact information without meaning to.

So, can you hide that list?

Yes, but only if you're on the Business or Enterprise plan. Airtable now lets you hide the list of people who have access to an interface. If you're on the Free or Team plan, there's no option for this, everyone can still see the full list.

When this setting is turned on, values in user fields and collaborator dropdowns will be hidden. Mentions and author names in comments will also be hidden, although the comments themselves will still be visible.

Here’s how to enable it:

  • Open your Interface

  • In the left sidebar, go to the Pages section

  • Click the three dots next to the Interface name

  • Turn on "Prevent external users from seeing each other"

How to hide the list

That’s it. Once enabled, your clients won’t be able to see who else has access.

An important thing to keep in mind is that internal collaborators, meaning people whose emails match the root domain of your Enterprise account, will still be visible to each other. Also, anyone with the same email domain will be able to see others with that domain.
