Airtable Base vs. Workspace: Which One Should You Use?
If you're managing multiple projects or clients in Airtable, you’ve probably asked yourself - Should I create a new base or a new workspace?
The biggest factor when choosing between a workspace and a base is cost.
Airtable bills you per user, per workspace—not per base.
So if the same person is added to two different workspaces, you’ll pay for them twice—even if they’re doing the same work in both.
However, Airtable’s Business plan (just below the Enterprise plan) allows you to create unlimited workspaces under the same billing plan. That means you won’t be double-charged when the same person is part of multiple workspaces.
If you’re on the Business plan or higher and want to manage permissions using user groups, feel free to use multiple workspaces.
But if you're on a lower-tier plan, stick to a single workspace to avoid redundant costs. Use multiple bases to separate different projects.
